Get to Know Tarpley's Dream Lodge Cafe

 

Candece Tarpley is of Sissipahaw, Tuscarora and Tsalagi decent. She is an Actress, Playwright, Poet, Storyteller and Champion Powwow Dancer. She's been writing and performing her works since childhood.

 

She is the Producer/Host of "Pathways to the Dream Lodge Cafe", airing on Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Her show received "The international Day of the World's Indigenous People" twice. It can be seen on youtube.com @pathwaystothedreamlodgecafe. She is also a member of "New York Women in Film and Television".

As a Storyteller she is a member of the fabulous "National Association of Black Storytellers", receiving "The Brother Blue Award". Her poems are published in their books of: "The Griots Storybook and Talk that Talk".

 

Being a member of SAG-AFTRA, she's appeared on many television shows and in many films. She's in the classic horror film "Ganja and Hess and It Could Happen to You" among others.

She is a member of ASCAP. She was nominated for a NAMMY from "The Native American Music Awards" for here poem "My Man of the Clouds".

She is s World Champion Powwow Dancer winning many contests, judging many other dance contests and selling her craft works at the Powwows.

She is a Teaching Artist and Crafts person working in many schools, museums and events around New York, New Jersey, Long Island and other parts of the U.S. as well. Her crafts have been shown in the Museum of Natural History in New York, The Children's Cultural Center, the film Beat Street and at many Indigenous Powwows
